Dr Shukor is new Inland Revenue CEO

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Dr Shukor Mahfar has been appointed chief executive officer of the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) effective Saturday.
He is replacing Tan Sri Hasmah Abdullah, who retires tomorrow. The Finance Ministry, in a statement yesterday, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also Finance Minister, handed the appointment letter to Dr Shukor.
Dr Shukor, 56, has served in the board from 1979 in various capacities.
Prior to his appointment, he was LHDN’s deputy director-general (Compliance) at the board’s headquarters in Jalan Duta.
He holds a honours degree in economics from Universiti Malaya, a masters degree in science taxation from Golden Gate University, United States, and a PhD in public administration from the same university.
The statement said Najib also handed over the appointment letter to Wan Salmah Wan Sulaiman as Accountant General on Nov 29, replacing Datuk Salleh Mahmud, whose service ended on Nov 28.
